Gate 59 - The Gate of Sustainability

Trusting in abundance and fostering sustainable relationships

The Gate of Sustainability, also known as The Gate of Sexuality, resides in the Sacral Center in your Human Design chart is all about creation and creativity, connection and relationships, and the survival of the species through sustainable collaborations.

So what does that all mean? It’s about trusting the universe to provide and knowing that sharing your power and creativity brings abundance to all rather than scarcity.

The Sacral center is your life force energy center. It’s where work, creativity, sexuality, and survival instincts reside, so it makes sense that this would be home to a gate representing creation and sustainability.

In the language of the Gene Keys, the 59th Shadow is ‘dishonesty’. Dishonesty arises when there is fear and distrust in relationships. As it progresses to the 59th Gift of intimacy, we begin to understand that intimacy doesn’t happen when we deny our fears, but when we accept that the fears exist. In relationships, when we honor the fears of our partner and allow them to open up about their fears honestly, we achieve a more intimate level of relationship. Intimacy breeds trust.

Aside from the sexual and reproductive aspect of the gate, there is also the connection with ourselves. When you can be honest and raw with your feelings you can tap into the creativity within you, allowing your creativity out into the world and connecting with others on a deeper level. When you can trust in yourself and the abundance of the universe, you are free to share your creations with the world without fear. (Fear of loss, fear of judgement, fear of lack).

When we are out of alignment with Gate 59 we don’t trust that the universe will provide for us to survive. The fear of lack causes us to force our needs and ideas on others or keep our creations to ourselves and not share them. These types of relationships are unsustainable and aren’t productive.

It’s sharing of ourselves and collaborating, being in trusting relationship, with others that fosters even further creativity and therefore more sustainability!
