There was a time when when we all lived in tune with the seasons.  There was no beginning or end, just an ongoing cycle where one season blended into the next, each preparing us for the next stage.
Lugnasadh (August 2) to Mabon (September 21) is the time between first and second harvest. Â
The days are getting shorter as we near the time of equal night again.  There is a sense of urgency as we still have much to harvest but the light is waning.  The children's help will be gone as they get ready to go back to school.
We’ve been planting and tending, watering and nurturing all year. Maybe it’s a garden, maybe it’s a new business. By now we should be seeing some return on our investment of sweat and effort, no? We’re tired, but know we have to keep moving forward, even If our movements are slower.
If we stop entirely, the heat of the high summer will burn the crops and all will be for naught. Same goes for a business or any other long term endeavor. We can’t stop now, that big harvest may be next week, or tomorrow!
We know abundance exists, there is enough for everybody… as long as we accept it. Even if we don't see it yet physically, it’s time to show gratitude for what is to come. By showing gratitude, we invite the abundance into our life. We’ve already accepted it and expect it.
So, look back on your year so far, and be thankful not only for what you’ve accomplished, but for the bounty that is coming your way!
Stay tuned for the next turn of the season at Mabon on September 21 to see how the cycle continues into The Second Harvest.
Living with the seasons is also living intuitively. It’s following the inner voices and the outer shifts, looking and listening for signs that point us in the right direction.
