Hello and welcome to another chapter on your Soul’s Journey!
All too often I find myself getting frustrated when I try to control everything that’s going on in my life (nope, not a good idea!) In the back of my mind, I know I need to release my crap and allow divine will to do what it needs to do, but it’s not easy.
Join me as I remind myself what surrender means, and what it doesn’t mean.

One of our biggest lessons in the Soul’s Journey is learning to surrender.
Surrender isn’t about giving up. It’s also not about losing ourselves to the whims of others. That version of surrender lends itself to the shadow side of the Slave archetype. The shadow of the Slave is about giving away your willpower. (If you follow me on my other ‘Stack “Shadow to Siddhi”, I’ll be discussing willpower in depth in the 40th Gene Key next week).
Jesus take the wheel!
The lesson of surrender is the lesson of releasing your need to control. It’s about releasing expectations, suspending judgement, and living in the moment.
We are surrendering both to Divine Will and surrendering to our own needs.
Divine Will is a tricky subject and for some really deep contemplation on that, take a look at the 40th Gene Key. We experience a conundrum when we realize that Divine Will carries us through life if we allow it, yet we also have free will, our will to choose.
Our own power of choice is important in living life on purpose and living within our design. The more we begin to understand our own design and better ways (for us) to make decisions, the easier those choices, will be. For example, when you realize that if you have emotional authority, it needs you to wait to see if a decision is really right for you. You will learn that quick gut decisions aren’t always the best ones for you and you’ll experience less regret or “buyer’s remorse” type feelings.
When we are everyone’s anchor, we are the ones who drown.
We can say it’s being kind and thoughtful to always put others’ needs first, but if we put others’ need first at the expense of our own needs, we deplete our own spirit. When we tend to our own needs, we are filled with energy and light to be able to selflessly give to others ‘of our own will’. It’s our choice to give, not because we feel guilty or indebted, or fearful.
In Human Design, the channel 26-44 is called the channel of surrender. It links the heart (will/ego) center with the spleen (intuitive) center. The gate 44 reminds us that we can learn to adapt and be flexible. We don’t have to control everything. And the gate 26, with its power of influence and persuasion, reminds us to use our will to influence in a positive way. Of course, if you have this channel or either of these gates defined in your chart, the rest of your design will flavor what this message means for you specifically.
To surrender is to make a powerful statement of choice. Giving up is allowing someone else to take your choice away. There is no need to prove anything when you choose to surrender to life, to your needs, to your divine will. Surrender is acceptance in and of the moment.
Human Design is about moving into alignment who you’re not and remembering who you are at your essence. When you remember who you are and how you are designed to operate in the world, decisions come more easily and life opens up to you, revealing the opportunities you may have overlooked. Life simply flows. For your free Human Design chart and a brief reading, drop me a line!
