The life you’re living now is your current best life. It’s the life you’ve chosen. If it stops feeling like your best, then change it.
You have that power.
“Oh really?” You scoff. “If I have that power, why do I feel powerless to just leave my job and go live on an island somewhere?”
Boundaries. And choices. You are where you are because of the choices you’ve made thus far in your life.
Not just you. Me too.
If I hadn’t left high school early and travelled around the country for three years with no direction, I would have ended up in college (where I was “supposed” to go), landed some architectural or other engineering type of job (which my parents and teachers wanted for me), and likely be living in or near my hometown probably still in that same career. And probably miserable.
Or I might’ve bailed on that life somewhere along the way.
Instead, I’ve had 4 different careers, moved to a new state 10 times, travelled to 4 continents, am now semi-retired, working p/t, and rebuilding a prior business while keeping house for 4 cats and my best guy.
My point is to show that if I can do all that randomness coming from “normal, uneventful, childhood USA”, so can you. It’s all about choices.
Too often we get caught up in settling for the life someone else chooses for us. Whether it’s staying in the family business when you’d rather follow your dream or continuing with that yoga class that you no longer enjoy “because it’s good for you and it’s the current hot trend”.
Kind of like this publication.
No, I don’t see Substack as a trend. And don’t worry, I’m not abandoning it or you!
But right now between elderly parents with health issues, launching a new group coaching program, and the re-launch of the podcast, life has been a little busy and I’ve had to follow my own energy needs and set some boundaries,
For this to continue being my best life (for now), you may see less of my writing in your inbox, but you’ll still get the weekly podcast episodes.
And, if you want to jump into your Human Design and do some exploring with me in my other programs outside of Substack, you can join me in the upcoming 2-day program Burnout to Balance, where we’ll take a deep dive into the Human Design centers and explore where stress and burnout show up for you… (and how to flip it around and get off the burnout rollercoaster!)
Where will life take me (or where will I take life) once things have settled down a bit? Who knows?!
I do look forward to a time when I’ll be able to settle back into leisurely weekly writing for you (and for me), and maybe dust off the old spinning wheel and loom for some relaxing fiber arts… but for now, be sure to stay tuned to the podcast and my live events, and I’ll even pop into Notes on occasion so I can keep up with your shenanigans as well!
As an old boss of mine used to tell his teenage son…Make good choices!
Here’s to living life on your terms,
I think many of us are facing similar choices about priorities, Suzanne - at least I know I am 😁
Thank you, for sharing your insights and wisdoms ☺️
