The courage to step into the unknown

My life has been a series of steps into the unknown.

I left home at 17. This was the second most difficult step into the unknown I’ve ever taken. A few months later I walked out of a job in the middle of the day without saying a word. That night I drove to a new city, ten hours away. Over the next three years I aimlessly traveled around the country. I enjoy traveling alone, exploring new cities and countries. The most difficult step of my life was the day I asked for a divorce from my husband of 14 years (it took me about 9 years to take that step). I had nowhere to live, a small business with no full time income or benefits, and I knew that letting my sons choose to live with their dad was best for them. I had no idea what was in store for me.

Do you have the drive and passion to step into the unknown?

We often tell ourselves that we do, but we remain, right where we are, just like I did in my marriage.

I love the Two of Wands. It’s one of my most favorite tarot cards because of its invitation into the unknown. An invitation to step through the doorway into something new.

Taking that step is usually simple, though the journey is not always easy. Once you determine what’s driving you, the steps show up simply.

Will you meet with resistance? Yes. Will you encounter obstacles? Yes.

If your passion is driving you, however, those will be easily navigated. The key is finding the passion that drives you. If there’s no passion, then that destination is not yours to reach. Look inside again and see where your passion leads you.

Just as the Two of Cups is about the space between the two people (the relationship), so with the Two of Wands, the focus is on the space between (the doorway) where we can walk through and into the unknown.

This is your invitation.

Whatever it is that you’ve been hesitating on, wherever it is that you want to go, this is your invitation, your kick in the butt, your sign that now is the time to take that step through the doorway and into this next phase of your life.
