Hello Soul’s Journey family!
I’ve spent much of my life discovering who I am, only to realize it’s more often about uncovering who I’m not. It’s been a journey of removing masks and peeling back layers, often leaving raw, open emotions around who I’m supposed to be.
I love Paolo Cohelo’s writings and when I stumbled across this quote, I knew there was a message for me, and I hope it’s a message that resonates for you this week as well.
Here’s to chipping away at our not-selves ⚒️
~Suzanne
Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about un-becoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.” ―Paulo Coelho
When a sculptor begins with a block of stone, the statue is already inside, they just need to chip away at what’s “not the statue”.
Often we try to change ourselves by becoming something more or different.
The conundrum is that we already are something, and trying to add more without removing “what’s not us” first, leaves us overextended and overwhelmed.
Similar to decluttering our environment, we need to declutter ourselves: our mind, our heart, our habits.
Rather than just focusing on what we want to be in the future, we can focus on who we are now and what parts of who we are aren’t in alignment of who we want to be. (Ok, so that was just a little convoluted, no?)
Let’s say you want to become a more calm, focused person.
What isn’t part of the calm, focused life you envision?
Getting agitated by random social media posts? Take a break from socials.
Rushing around trying to get everything done every day? Ask for or hire help.
Feeling like there’s no time to relax and read a book or meditate? Turn off the TV.
Let’s say you want to be a healthier person.
What isn’t part of the healthy lifestyle you envision?
Fast food
Cigarettes
Binge watching TV
The universe abhors a vacuum. To allow something new in life, something old needs to be released to make space.
We need to unbecome what we are in order to become what we wish to be.
What do you want to unbecome?
Human Design is about unbecoming who you’re not and remembering who you are at your essence. When you remember who you are and how you are designed to operate in the world, decisions come more easily and life opens up to you, revealing the opportunities you may have overlooked. Life simply flows. For your free Human Design chart and a brief reading, drop me a line!
