We’re All Here Just Trying to ‘Get It Right’
What is it about doing life the right way that has us all stumped?
If you’re not on the right path, you must be on the wrong path.
This is how we are conditioned to perceive where we are in life. But is that really true? What if your path diverges or takes a detour? So, how do you know when you’re on the right path at any given time?
As long as you’re on a path, moving forward, it doesn’t matter.
But what if you’re busy walking on someone else’s path, trying to be successful living someone else’s version of life? You’re missing out on all the magic that is yours to create (and you truly would be on the wrong path!)
So how do you know what you’re meant to be doing?
You can take personality tests and study life purpose programs (I have many, so many, books on my bookshelves that offer these types of solutions). These are helpful, but they only take you so far in understanding that you’re an introverted thinker or an extroverted feeler and that you work well with people (or not). There are books like What Color is Your Parachute? that supposedly help you determine your best career choice.
But there’s one problem. Actually, there’s more than just one problem.
For starters, these lead you to follow paths that others have already created. Also, they try to fit you into a box with a label that you might fit in at one angle, but is super uncomfortable at a different angle. And what if you grow out of that box?
I had discovered that to be most productive, and most happy, and able to weave together all the different parts of my life, I needed to create a life formula that was fluid. There was no life purpose template out there that fit a mom of twins with a husband who traveled who had my particular skill set, interests, and all my other personality quirks.
My formula wasn’t going to be the same as someone else’s formula.
In searching for my path and the meaning in what I was doing, I created that formula that helped me fit all the pieces of my life together into a balanced life with some sense of direction (well, as much direction as you can have with a growing home business and two young boys to raise).
And, as a new coach, I realized others needed to create their own sense of balance as well to find their own meaning and “do it right”. That formula became the basis for my first book.
“Doing it right” is about creating what works for you. It’s about learning how you operate, prioritizing your needs, and setting boundaries to stay focused. And it’s about being able to adjust as life changes around you.
I still use that same balance formula I created years ago, applying it to my life as things change and as I evolve. I also still teach that formula to my clients to give them a tool they can use to find balance as they grow and their lives shift.
The original book is available to purchase, and paid subscribers have access to a self directed online program based on the formula and book.
