Do you ever forget that you create your own life? I do, sometimes.
Every choice, every move, every thought creates the reality you live in.
You get to decide every day what sort of image you will create:
A Job, career, your own business?
Single, in a relationship, growing a family?
Party girl, book nerd, hippie chick?
Who are you?
Are you living the life that FEELS like you? Or are you living a life someone else described? A life someone else convinced you was “the best life”.
Your life is your greatest work of art.
Picasso didn’t try to be Matisse. Warhol didn’t try to be Rembrandt. Pollock didn’t try to be DaVinci. Why are you trying to be like that influencer on social media?
I know it’s easy to say, “Just be yourself”, but so many people don’t even know who they are. Do you?
You’ve been influenced by so many people from so many different parts of your life, trying to decipher who YOU are is one of life’s greatest challenges… and offers life’s greatest rewards. When you understand the tools and gifts you have to offer in a way nobody else can, others get to experience what only you can offer - the real you.
When you uncover pieces of you that truly reflect YOU, there will be no struggle.
It’s like when you find that one outfit that fits your body shape perfectly and the colors enhance your natural beauty, and you just want to wear it every day because it makes you feel good without any effort.
I had a reminder recently when I was trying to run a part of my business in a way that all the current “business gurus” said was the most effective.
I started out my coaching practice doing one-on-one sessions with clients. I loved it. They loved it. They’d write heartfelt reviews and would come back and book sessions whenever they needed to really dive deep into some area of their life to move forward.
Over the years, I tried group programs. “Leverage your time” the gurus all said. But every time I tried to run a group program I got stressed. I got frustrated. And ultimately they flopped.
My one-on-one clients always came back and I always loved working with them in that small container format, but I was determined to grow my business into a group format.
The lightbulb moment
After a recent flop of a program, a coach and fellow human design practitioner pointed out a channel on my chart that very clearly reflected my gift of being able to go deep and hold energy in intimate one-on-one settings.
As soon as I heard that, it felt like a weight was lifted (I know that sounds corny, but it’s true!) I no longer felt the pressure of having to do group programs. Yes, group programs are great, but they're not “my style”. At least not right now.
I was trying to build my business in a way that didn’t fit my natural gifts and what my clients look to me for. I was trying to create a Picasso while my clients want to experience a Warhol.
When something you’re doing in life feels frustrating or just doesn’t want to work no matter what you do, maybe it’s time to look deeper and see whether it’s really in alignment with who you truly are, or if you’re doing it because someone else said it was “the best thing to do”.
Human Design is about moving into alignment with who you’re not and remembering who you are at your essence.
