And why I enjoy my morning routine in darkness.
There’s nothing better for the body’s system as being jarred awake by a blaring alarm, throwing on the bright lights, downing a cup of high-octane caffeinated beverage, and rushing out the door to greet the day.
Yes there is.
But that’s just one scenario. Another might be to wake up, throw on your workout gear, and go for an early morning run.
Nope. Not me.
Every success guru has the perfect solution to starting your day in order to:
get the most done
be at peace
be successful
Work out first thing in the morning to get the most energy for your day.
Write in your journal for 30 minutes for the best creativity.
Walk in nature to clear your mind for a peaceful day.
My morning routine is performed in darkness and silence, not because I’m in a zen state of contemplation, but because I get up for work 4 hours before my partner and his sleep pattern is already inconsistent. If he’s lucky enough to be asleep at 3:30 AM, I’m certainly not going to wake him!
This is what works for me.
I also enjoy alone time with my coffee and a light breakfast before starting my day and that can only happen if he’s asleep.

I love this. We're all so different with different lifestyles.
My morning routine is different to some degree on different days of the week.
But no matter what else happens, I set my intentions for the day and fill my mind with positive messages that will support me as I go through the day and beyond.
My optimal start is (or it seems to be) to lay there for about an hour, part meditation and part catching up on reading (or trying to, anyhow), then do a quick gratitude check before getting started.
Well, that's the optimal… some mornings are more challenging than others… 😉
