I think even when I was younger I knew what I wanted and whilst I would happily listen to the advice of others, I knew my own mind well enough to not care too much about what other people thought.
Then somewhere along the path that changed and I cared too much about what others thought and that made me very miserable. Thankfully that period of my life was fairly short-lived (about 5 years). I think once we've worked out who we want to be and live by that, we care less and less about what other people think and trust ourselves more and more. Yes, this is an excellent reminder and well-timed as I had a little blip with this last night.
I think for many of us it took us so long to learn it because of the insecurities planted in us by self-involved parents. In most cases we were kind left adrift, thus constantly searching for validation in others.
Those are my abbreviated thoughts, anyhow - I could be way off LOL Thanks for resharing this...
Very good point! Many of us (dare I say, Gen X?) lived much of our youth on our own. We’d leave the house early in the morning, get home at dark, and everything in between we were mostly on our own, making decisions, fighting battles, and making up life as we went.

I do believe the Universe puts our reminders out there just when we need them 😉
